Makeshift wine sauce

Making dinner gets interesting when you're a ballin' on a budget.

Being that it was Sunday and the weekend's treasures have left a lingering presence, I was craving some good comfort food. And with so many bomb ass Mexican joints around, the temptation to throw 5 on it sets in thick (especially when all you want to do is chill on your couch and teleport food to your mouth).

This is when you tell yourself to man up and get creative. Pull your ass off that couch and see what you've got. Because when there is a will there is a way.

After eye-ballin' the 2 buck chuck and debating whether I should dance with the hair of the dog, an idea crept in like a hangover in afternoon: pasta with a homemade wine sauce. Now let me be real for a sec, I fucking love pasta. I could easily live off of it (as I did for most of college). It always makes me feel better. It's delicious. And I could kiss the pasta gods everydamnday for the rest of my life for bestowing me with such culinary greatness. Anywho, enough of me and my pasta fetish. Here's the real reason you're reading this:
cheap homemade wine sauce.

I've never made this before tonight. But newness has never stopped me. Only enticed me.
Let's start with some ingredients, shall we?
Olive oil
Butter
Garlic
White wine (preferably 2 buck chuck)
Spinach (optional, but not really because shit's dank)
More garlic (obviously)

Pour olive oil in a skillet and press some garlic into that bad boy. Sautée it gently.
Add butter and wine (whatever floats your boat).  And then pour yourself a glass because you really should just embrace the dogs' hair anyway.

Let is simmer for about a glass of wine and then throw some spinach on it.
And sauté it sweetly.

Toss some pasta into that bangin' creation and BOOM. Dankalicious.
Pair with some baked veggies from your garden and you've got yourself a party.

Cheers!

Kimono Fever

So I have this obsession. And it's with kimonos. Especially tie dye fridge kimonos. I strongly believe I was born in the wrong decade and these drapey babies instantly take me to the summer of love. It's something about the loose and luxurious feel that screams sensual groovy goddess to me and I dig it.

Here's me having too much fun in today's outfit of the day:
Click the link above and check out my Lookbook profile! It's been awhile since I've posted anything, but as of today I'm back in the game ;)
Sorry for all the selfies, I just seriously love kimonos. And pictures. And being weird.

Thanks for stoppin' by and joining the party! Have a beautiful day!

Stay weird my fwiends <3

Start Me Up

My morning routine is crucial to my day. And since we've moved I've had a hard time implementing my beloved rising practices. But today I finally got a chance to start my morning the way I like.. with a serene yoga sesh, a grounding meditation, a blissful outlook, and an open gateway to creativity.

Yoga is creative movement, and I feel best when I allow my practice to guide me. I listen to my body, dive into the present moment, and freely move wherever my heart desires. It's these precious moments, where my mind, body, and soul sync up to create art that I feel I am expressing my true self. It's liberating and empowering yet grounding and humbling.

I love to complete my practice with a short meditation. I am still learning to dive inward, so I use a guided meditation to help me fine stillness. This is the one I listened to this morning. Check it out! And tell me what you think! Also, I'm always looking to try something new! Do you have any suggestions? I would love to trancesnt to them.

Ounce I've got my mind right and body is feeling refreshed, my soul starts to shine through. I'm instantly happier, eager for fun, and enjoy the simple things like making breakfast, brushing my teeth and getting ready. Being the creative being that I am, its probably no surprise that I LOVE creating outfits. My style allows me to express myself. And each day brings a new element to the table. So here's today mood! After listening to Stevie Nicks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Rolling Stones Pandora, I decided it was a slashed leggings and oversized sweater kind if a day.

Here's a glimpse of some of the details. Pardon the angle, I tried to make due on my lunch break!

With such a beautiful day outside, it's hard to not have a wonderful day. But I know that my morning regime allowed me to open up today's wonder with welcoming arms and gratitude.

And for that I am thankful. And still ready for action. Cuz' once I start I'll never stop ;)

Holy Guacamole

My favorite snack at the moment... guacamole! I bow down in gratitude for whomever made this glorious concotion.

I pair mine with carrots, cucumbers or whatever chips I have on hand.

Ever since our move to San Diego...I've been on a mission to eat ALLLLLL the mexican food. I'm thinking a quest to find the best burrito in San Diego is in order. Maybe a new little blog series to document the process.
Any suggestions?

I probably overdo it on the garlic...but yolo dgaf swag.

I need some toothpicks so I can start growing an avocado tree!! Excuse me while I run to the store :)

May your day be as glorious as this guac!

It's all in the details...

We have been having a grand ol time decorating our beach castle!

As promised, here are a few shots of the details that have been bringing this space to life.

My plain Ikea Dudero lamp is now adorned with the prettiest of garlands
A single feather accentuates the wind when it blows through an open window

An embroidered lace doily & vintage gold candelabra with sweet lil birds tops my dresser

Vintage record, perfumes & those infamous robins egg blue boxes..

Work Hard. Lay Hard.

We started this morning on a blissful mission: to decorate our beach castle abode and enjoy every minute of our day off!

Given that we absolutely LOVE getting creative, decorating our home surely put our minds in a colorful place. Armed with some eager decor and a beach castle vision, we headed out to grab some flowers and hardware!

Michaels came in clutch. With 40% off florals, we scored some awesome goodies and got down with a bouquet discount!

We ended up creating some epic bouquets, hanging EVERYTHING we had to hang, cleaning, and making a deliciously healthy dinner. Thank you espresso machine. I'm sure you had a little something to do with our productivity.

We even had time to enjoy the sunset from our beautiful view.
Here's a shot with a glimpse of our neighborhood.
Dat garden doe..

After today's creative projects, we are happy to report our beach castle is starting to reflect our vision. (We'll post the glorious progress shortly!) And what better way to end the day than with a treat from Happy Head Massage! Nestled in the heard of Hillcrest, this little sanctuary treated us like queens and rocked us like babies. Pampered, relaxed, and feeling zen, we're now cuddling up on the coziest couch in the world.

Goodnight and sweet dreams loves. May your night be filled with peace & love.
